Deputy City Manager

The City is seeking is an engaging and participative team member to lead and manage important, complex and innovative projects as Deputy City  Manager. The Deputy City Manager should be an energetic, motivated, and enthusiastic individual who has the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and interactions with the public, City Council, City staff, consultants, non-profit organizations and businesses. The ideal individual is results oriented, possess a great attitude, personifies and demonstrates creativity and innovation, and works efficiently. As a member of the Executive Team, the Deputy City Manager must be flexible and nimble to take on new projects; balance competing demands; inspired and enthused to work on a broad and varied group of priorities, events, and projects; and provide backup and assistance to others when needed.

The Deputy City Manager oversees the public safety functions of emergency management programs and contract services, including law enforcement, fire, and animal control, that are provided by Los Angeles County. Other responsibilities of the position include oversight of the Park and Recreation Programs, management of the City’s communications and outreach programs, City sustainability initiatives, legislative platform, and oversight and management of several service contracts.
