Slow Down In Our Home Town

In 2020, a custom and branded traffic and pedestrian safety campaign: Slow Down in Our Hometown was created. The campaign was designed to be shared via a public education effort in the media and social media and supported through our community partners.

The City launched a public education campaign to reduce speeding, driving under the influence, and distracted driving. A number of tools were used like:

• A press release on traffic safety was published in The Acorn.
• An ad campaign featuring visuals and text outlining the City’s efforts.
• A social media campaign featuring key messages detailing the City's efforts in partnership with the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station
• Public service announcement videos for the City Council and Police to promote traffic safety with the campaign theme: “Slow Down in our Hometown.” To view the videos click on the links below.

• A half page hand-out for law enforcement to distribute at the next DUI checkpoint that communicates the City’s efforts and intent with the program.
• A “first 28 days of enforcement” branded social media and web infographic to share results of enforcement/education efforts.
•  A “first 28 days of enforcement” letter to HOA’s, Chamber, schools and non-profit organizations to share results of the enforcement/education efforts.
• An "Operation Crosswalk" sting in partnership with the Lost Hills station to educate and enforce pedestrian safety. The operations resulted in 37 citations and 17 warnings.  

PESDESTRAIN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

The City continues to make progress in 2021 improving pedestrian safety within the community. The Public Safety Advisory Board is currently reviewing ways to provide pedestrian improvements. Below are current presentations provided to the Board:
